- Sharp knife (adult use only)

- Paper

- Paint

- Paintbrush

1. (Adults) cut the potato in half on the chopping board

2. Cut shape e.g. star, square, triangle into the cut end of the potato

(children can now participate, when knife is safely away)

3. Paint potato shapes and stamp onto paper.

Benefits of Potato prints:

Potato printing is a great activity for children who have just started developing fine motor skills and can not yet maintain a pincer grip. Due to the size the potato will be easier to handle for them than a pen or pencil. Its also a great game for learning and recognising different shapes and colours.
